Absentee and questioned ballots were counted by the Valdez Elections Canvas Board on the morning of May 4th. The Elections Canvas Board also met to confirm by hand count votes for Darren Reese, Christopher Moulton, and Proposition Three.
Following the Elections Canvas Board hand count, City Council candidates Darren Reese and Christopher Moulton tied for the third City Council seat with 280 votes each. The Elections Canvas Board hand count results for Proposition Three confirmed the "No" advisory vote (No: 346; Yes: 342). Christopher Moulton was elected to the third City Council seat following coin toss by Mayor Weaver during the May 4th regular City Council meeting.
Official election results were certified by City Council during their regular meeting on Wednesday, May 4th.
The newly elected School Board members will be sworn in during the regular School Board meeting on May 9th.
The newly elected Mayor and Council Members will be sworn in during the regular City Council meeting on May 16th.
