Community of Valdez Strategic Plan 2013-2018
was officially adopted by the Valdez City Council on February 19, 2013 following a 1.5 year community wide, facilitated planning process.
The Community of Valdez is now starting the implementation phase.
Implementation begins with Responsible Parties, such as community organizations, agencies, or others, submitting Milestone Support Applications to the City. Milestones are specific projects, programs, initiatives, or capital projects that 1) require City resources (funding, staffing, or other resources); and 2) further the Goals and Objectives outlined in the Strategic Plan. These applications will be evaluated by a 20-person Planning Core through an annual review process. The Planning Core’s recommendations will be submitted to the City Council for deliberation and approval. The City Council’s final decisions on resource allocations will take place during the City’s annual fall budget process.
Applications for 2014 Milestone Support are due to the City of Valdez, City Manager’s Office no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, April 5, 2013. Note: Milestone applications need be submitted only if a Responsible Party requires City resources to support the project’s implementation. Please review the following materials prior to beginning the application process.
