    Preschool Story Time happens every Friday at 11:15 am and wraps up by noon. Come join us for stories, songs, crafts and more! Story Time is intended for a preschool audience, but all ages are welcome.

  1. HAWK May 26th thru September 1st

    HAWK - Hike Alaska’s Wild Kountry - 2014 For ages 5 and above Pick up a HAWK program trail card at the P&R Office at the Civic Center, at the Healthier You Finale, or at the May 17th Clean-Up Day BBQ Hike, on foot, 3 or more of the trails listed on the reverse side of this card. Valdez Trail information is available in the Parks and Recreation Summer Trail Map Guide or online at: www.ci.valdez.ak.us/parks&trails Log the date you hiked each trail on the reverse side of this tracking card. Turn in your completed trail card at the Parks & Rec Office at the Civic Center or log on to http://ci.valdez.ak.us/HAWKTrailsCard to fill out and submit the online trail form on or before September 1, 2014. Each participant must turn in an individual trail card. Prize Drawings for hiking 3, 5, 7 or all 9 trails. Participants will be entered in each Prize drawing for which they qualify (for example, a person who hikes all 9 trails will be entered in each drawing), but may only win 1 prize

  2. Summer Art Contest Begins- June 2nd at 9 AM (through July 3rd at 5 PM)

    Test your artistic talents by decorating a 2ft wooden fishing boot cut-out. Boots are available at the Civic Center Mon-Fri 9:00-5:00 starting June 2nd for a minimum donation of $10 each. Return your fish to the Civic Center no later than July 3rd. Winner will be awarded a cash prize!! All entries will be displayed and available for public voting starting July 4-6th. Please stop by & vote for your favorite boot—open to all ages.

  3. Circus Camp 1PM-5PM at the Civic Center *Pre-registration Required*

    The Roustabout Circus present a two week extravaganza of the circus arts, from acrovatics to trapeze, clowning and juggling of all kinds! June 23rd- July 4th, Monday- Friday with an appearance in the 4th of July Parade and a Circus Extravaganza Performance as part of the community festivities! Camp will meet 1:00pm- 5:00pm each day at the Valdez Civic Center, $150 per two weeks camp. Max 21 campers. This camp is open for youth entering grades 3-9.   4. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Shana Anderson Dog Park 6:00PM at Shana Anderson Dog Park

    Valdez is going to the DOGS! Come celebrate with Parks and Recreation as we unveil the newest Valdez Park, the Shana Anderson Dog Park, located off the Meals Bike Path, next to Providence Valdez Medical Center. Don't forget to bring your canine companion; we will have treats for both our 4-legged and 2-legged friends! Ribbon cutting and sign unveiling at 6:00PM, Friday, June 27 with refreshements served afterwards. Bring a frisbee for Fido and play some catch after the ceremony!
