Gilson Middle School Project Reports - June 2013 Progress Report

Brief Description - PROJECT UPDATE – JUNE 2013 ARCADIS coordinated the installation of temporary utilities, reviewed 95% design documents and managed special inspections. Bettisworth North (BNAP) and their design team completed the 95% design, which were refined to 100% construction documents the first week in July. Layout and preparation for the temporary football field has begun. Dawson Construction (DCI) completed mobilization and placement of construction offices on site. A 15,000 gallon above-ground fuel tank was temporarily relocated and will later supply fuel to the emergency generator, Pool and High School boilers. Demolition of the old wood shop, modular classrooms and Jr. High was completed except for the covered stairs and walkway to the High School. The existing asphalt, sod, topsoil and chain link fencing were removed. Excavation for the new building’s footings started at the northeast quadrant and will continue to the southeast. Footing form work and rebar installation is underway and the concrete is being placed in the northeast quadrant. DCI will continue pouring concrete about three times each week until the foundation work is complete. Special inspections for soil quality, compaction, rebar placement and concrete strength will continue as necessary. Temporary power was installed and energized for the Pool and High School. Overhead cable was installed for temporary phone and internet with connection anticipated in the first week of July.
